Greg MacPherson

Senior Financial Advisor

Greg MacPherson, BBA, CFP, FMA, FCSI, CPCA, RIAC

Senior Financial Advisor, Manulife Securities Incorporated
Financial Planner, Manulife Securities Insurance Inc.

"I remember when I was in grade four I bought my first Canada Savings Bond.  It was $100, and the rate of interest was 11.25%.  It came with a pamphlet about the wonders of compound interest.  Since then, I've been hooked.  The idea that you can use knowledge to make money and the idea that you can make money work for you and grow on its own fascinated me.  Some kids are interested in music and some in sports.  For me, I was interested in business and investing."

Since then, I have been fortunate to make a living out of helping the people I know with their financial situation and investing.  I have a great interest in communicating to my clients and educating the public about investing, retirement, tax and estate planning.

I have been fortunate to see growth in my business based on the good ol' fashion principal of doing a good job for people and letting word-of-mouth and referrals do the rest.  I believe very strongly in using that good fortune to give back to others and the community."

Education / Qualifications

This is Greg's 27th year in the investment industry.  He graduated from Acadia University with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance) degree.  He has completed various industry courses from the Canadian Securities Institute and most importantly has received the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) TM designation.  In addition to this, he has achieved his Financial Management Advisor (FMA) ®designation, a designation denoting a "mastery level of knowledge" and "expertise to handle complex wealth management issues and counsel high-net-worth clients".  Furthermore, Greg attained the Certified Professional Consultant on Aging (CPCA) ® designation, "North America's premier senior advisor designation".  Greg has also achieved the designation of Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI) ®, "the most senior designation in Canada's financial services sector", as well as Responsible Investment Advisor Certification (RIAC) a designation for advisors who have specialized training in responsible investing and the use of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors in investment decisions.

He is not only a competent financial advisor but has also had experience as a company Compliance Officer overseeing twenty advisors and monitoring their investment recommendations. Associate Advisor

Jacob Tompkins

Associate Advisor, Manulife Securities Incorporated

"I have always been fascinated with the idea of investing. I remember being in middle school, when I first created my own stock portfolio using an app on my iPod. Analyzing the data behind each investment and seeing the way it could grow over time intrigued me. As the son of two teachers, I also value educating and helping others. My fascination with investing and passion for educating and helping people is ultimately what influenced me to become a financial advisor.”

In recent years, many of our clients have met the newest member of our team, Jacob Tompkins. Jacob is a well-qualified financial advisor that grew up in Woodstock. He majored in finance and accounting at Carleton University in Ottawa.

He has valuable experience working at a local accounting firm as well as teaching financial industry courses. He is very good at turning complex financial topics into easy-to-understand concepts. Above all, we value that he is honest, professional, and approachable.
